PHENOMENA is a brief interactive poetry set about sightings, signs, darkness, and the stories people build around uncertain lights. Each of its seven poems can be read straight down or reshaped line by line, turning a few minutes of clicking into a small cabinet of alternate nights.
What is PHENOMENA?
The page looks less like a branching adventure than a poem with hidden gears. Seven short pieces arrive in seven-line blocks, and each line can rotate through a set of alternatives. Read the untouched version vertically and it has one pulse; click across the lines and continuations, interruptions, jokes, and ominous fragments begin rubbing against one another. UFO reports supply the surface weather, but the collection keeps drifting toward night, loneliness, belief, death, and the human appetite for making patterns out of uncertain signals. The pleasure is not finding a correct version. It is noticing how one swapped phrase can make the same encounter solemn, absurd, or quietly unnerving.

Why we picked it
A tiny mechanic does unusually rich work here. Changing one line at a time makes the reader both editor and witness, while the fixed seven-by-seven structure keeps the experiment legible instead of dissolving into word soup. It is compact, strange, and generous enough to reward several passes.
How to get the most from it
Start by reading each poem exactly as it appears. Then click one line repeatedly and watch how its alternatives converse with the lines above and below. Change only a few pieces at first; the sharpest turns often come from one stubborn sentence landing in a new neighborhood. Use the restore control when you want the original arrangement back.
Good to know
The destination describes the visit as only a few minutes and flags alien encounters, death, and mild profanity. It runs as an HTML5 Twine work on itch.io. Sound, mobile behavior, keyboard navigation, accessibility support, and the persistence behind Restore encounter are not documented well enough to promise. Site Stumble did not capture a screenshot, and the detected icon and social artwork remain unapproved evidence only.
