In a minute there is time turns literary wandering into a sixty-second choice experiment. Click through foggy streets, stray conversations, and poetic fragments, then restore the clock and follow a different thread through the same suspended evening.
What is In a minute there is time?
A giant countdown gives this small Twine work its pulse. For one minute, you choose where to look and which fragments to follow through a city shaped by Prufrock; when time runs out, the structure invites revision instead of treating the clock as a conventional loss. Replays turn haste into a map-making exercise, revealing alternate scenes and relationships a few clicks at a time. The result is closer to walking around inside a poem than solving a branching story, and its brevity makes curiosity the main control scheme.
What you can do there
- Choose passages before the minute expires
- Replay the clock
- Trace alternate scenes and conversations
Why we picked it
The timer is not decoration: it translates a poem preoccupied with indecision, repetition, and vanishing time into an interaction you can feel. The piece is tiny but formally sharp, and SeedComp recognized that fit with both Best Technical and Best Seed Subversion awards.
How to get the most from it
Choose Run the clock and click whichever place, phrase, or conversation pulls at you. Do not expect to see everything in one pass. When the minute ends, restore the clock, notice what changed or became familiar, and use later runs to chase the paths you missed.
Good to know
A first pass lasts sixty seconds, plus a brief opening, while several replays can stretch the visit to a few minutes. Mouse and touchscreen input are listed. After replaying, you can lengthen the timer for slower reading; colorblindness and low-contrast improvements were still described as pending in the April 2024 update. Open it directly because its frame policy does not include Site Stumble.
