2 Tales turns narrative order into a compact spatial puzzle. You select fragments, swap their positions, and flip each one between two stories that run across different axes. The concept is immediately legible from the controls, though the project is still labeled in development.
What is 2 Tales?
This is less a choose-your-own-adventure than a pocket-sized editorial desk with a trick drawer. One tale reads across the board while the other runs down it, and every piece can belong to either arrangement. Directional keys move the selection, one button flips a fragment, and another swaps it. The result is a neat collision of close reading and grid logic: solving the prose also means solving the space it occupies. The experiment is deliberately small, but its two-faced pieces give the central idea unusual bite.
What you can do there
- Rearrange fragments into coherent stories
- Flip pieces between two tale sides
Why we picked it
The memorable part is not merely that text becomes a puzzle; it is that the same physical fragments serve two separate narrative orders. That constraint makes each swap feel like editing one story while quietly disturbing another.
How to get the most from it
Read both sides of several pieces before chasing a complete line. Use the directional keys to inspect the grid, Z to flip the selected fragment, and X to swap pieces, then look for wording that joins cleanly across a row or column.
Good to know
The project page labels the game in development and documents a keyboard-first control scheme. Runtime sound, touch support, completion feedback, accessibility features, ads, popups, and save behavior were not verified in this review.
