Red Light Green Light is a compact first-person prototype that hides the world until something moves. Its browser build turns that visual rule into a short hunt: find one figure before the figure following you gets there first.
What is Red Light Green Light?
The page frames this as a tiny liminal experiment, and the premise is wonderfully severe: still things recede from view while motion briefly gives the space its edges. WASD and mouse handle navigation, while a click lets you pick up and throw balls when you find them. A later browser update added a simple pursuit structure with two figures and clear win-or-lose stakes, giving the shader experiment a destination beyond wandering. It remains labeled a prototype, so arrive for one sharp idea rather than a polished campaign.
What you can do there
- Explore a grayscale space where motion reveals what is present
- Pick up and throw balls
- Find one figure before another figure finds you
Why we picked it
The visibility rule changes ordinary exploration into a small act of suspicion. Empty-looking rooms can be full of geometry, props, or company; a little motion becomes both information and unease. That is a sturdy enough idea to make a short prototype memorable.
How to get the most from it
Choose Run game on the itch.io page, then use WASD and the mouse to move and look around. Click when you find a ball to pick it up or throw it. Use P to pause or escape; the creator notes that the browser version may require pressing it twice.
Good to know
This is a Unity prototype for browser and Windows, with a 33 MB desktop download listed. The creator says the desktop build has extra shader effects while the browser build has more content. Sound, touch support, accessibility behavior, and the live ending were not verified, and Site Stumble cannot embed the page under its current frame policy.
