Procedural Face Generator is a small Red Blob Games experiment in building cartoon expressions from mathematical parameters. Random generation, four color families, and a dozen labeled moods turn a compact graphics study into a quick character-design toy.

What is Procedural Face Generator?

The page treats a cartoon face as a little system rather than a drawing. Five mouth parameters shape the central expression, skew and rotation introduce asymmetry, and separate controls govern eyebrow lift and angle. The visible presets run from Smile and Glee through Grief, Shock, Fear, and two flavors of Anger, while the Random instruction encourages wandering through the larger parameter space. Patel also leaves the workshop door open: the page documents constraints, old Flash roots, and a wish list that includes eye controls, smoother interpolation, shareable URLs, blinking, and continuous animation.
