Power Inherited

A family curse turns every defeat into fuel for the next dungeon run.

Power Inherited folds an incremental upgrade loop into a compact pixel-art dungeon crawl. Each short-lived generation pushes farther toward room 22, leaving the bloodline stronger for the next attempt. The current browser build is free and silent, but its own page warns that mobile scaling is unreliable.

What is Power Inherited?

This is a dungeon expedition built around productive failure. A cursed family keeps sending a new heir below ground, and every doomed trip helps the next one arrive with more muscle. The playable page frames the finish line clearly: survive to room 22 and beat the boss. Its hands-off, auto-battling rhythm makes the monster parade feel closer to tending a tiny haunted machine than steering an action hero. Between the generational premise, sharply bounded goal, and deliberately old-school pixel presentation, the loop has more personality than a plain numbers ladder. Community jam results back up the appeal: it ranked first for both fun and balance and third overall in its event. The creators are continuing development, though their newer systems remain works in progress rather than promises about the current build.

What you can do there

  • Send successive generations through a dungeon
  • Invest inherited progress between attempts
  • Try to reach room 22 and defeat the boss

Why we picked it

The inheritance mechanic gives the familiar incremental reset a wonderfully grim little story job: death is not a failure screen, it is estate planning with monsters. A visible final room keeps the accumulation pointed somewhere, while the compact jam-sized scope makes this easier to finish than an endless idle game.

How to get the most from it

Open it on a desktop, choose Run game, and let the first generation establish the rhythm. Treat early defeats as scouting rather than disaster, then spend inherited progress with the room-22 boss in mind. Keep the page's lack of audio in mind and supply your own dungeon soundtrack if silence feels too ghostly.

Good to know

The current itch.io build is free, browser-based, and explicitly silent. Its creators say it was not designed for mobile and may appear in a badly scaled fullscreen view there, so desktop is the sensible route. Expect roughly a 40-to-60-minute first completion based on multiple jam-participant reports, not a verified stopwatch test. The live controls, persistence, accessibility behavior, advertising, and final encounter were not exercised during this review.
