Neighbourhoods

Wander a scanned neighbourhood where the collectibles are sounds.

Neighbourhoods is a compact experimental browser piece built from 3D scans, audio, and a simple invitation: explore the area and find every sound. It treats listening as a scavenger-hunt skill, turning an ordinary block into a pocket-sized acoustic map.

What is Neighbourhoods?

The project page offers very little ceremony: press Run game, enter a 3D point-and-click space, and start listening for the pieces tucked around it. That restraint fits the concept. Instead of piling on quests or scores, Neighbourhoods makes the environment itself the puzzle and sound the thing worth collecting. Its credits split the work across 3D scanning, audio, text, and code, which helps explain the handmade field-recording character suggested by the premise. The live camera, interaction rules, and full sound set still need a hands-on check in an approved isolated environment.

What you can do there

  • Explore a scanned neighbourhood
  • Search for hidden sounds
  • Point and click through the environment

Why we picked it

Most scavenger hunts reward sharp eyes; this one asks the ears to clock in too. The combination of scanned space and hidden audio gives a small jam project a clear identity, somewhere between a digital diorama and a neighbourhood sound walk.

How to get the most from it

Choose Run game and give the scene a patient sweep. Treat it as point-and-click exploration: pause over details, listen for changes, and revisit corners that seemed visually quiet. Headphones may help, although the current volume and accessibility options were not verified.

Good to know

The listing identifies a released HTML5 project made during Games Now! Online Jam #6 in 2022. Itch.io showed both Run game and Restore game controls during the check, but saved-state behavior was not tested. Mobile controls, captions, visual sound cues, motion, saving, and completion behavior remain unverified; no screenshot was captured.
