Tiny Games

Flamebearer

Carry the torch, toss the torch, desperately catch the torch.

Flamebearer turns a platformer's precious objective into a glass ball that cannot stop moving. You run, jump, aim, and keep lobbing an eternal flame overhead, converting every ledge into a small timing crisis and every clean catch into a sigh of relief.

What is Flamebearer?

The central trick is gloriously inconvenient: the flame must travel with you, but holding it is not the answer. Instead, you play hot potato with a fragile glass orb while navigating a sequence of platforming rooms. That means the usual jump is only half the job; your mouse must send the flame on a useful arc, and your keyboard must put the bearer underneath it before gravity delivers bad news. Later rooms add torches and moving hazards to the routine. The result earned a top-three overall finish in its Godot jam, with especially strong marks for graphics, theme, originality, and audio.

What you can do there

  • Throw and catch a fragile flame while moving
  • Platform through rooms without shattering the glass
  • Light torches in later stages

Why we picked it

One clear rule generates a surprising amount of panic. Throwing the object you are sworn to protect sounds foolish until it becomes the only workable rhythm, and that contradiction gives Flamebearer more identity than many much larger platformers.

How to get the most from it

Use WASD to move, Space, W, or Up Arrow to jump, and the mouse to aim and throw. Practice short, controlled tosses before attempting heroic arcs. Press Escape to check the current room, and expect later rooms to demand more precision than the gentle music suggests.

Good to know

This is a demanding game, not a cozy stroll with a lantern. Historical players reported difficult bounce rooms, transition glitches, and occasional wall or floor traps; their current status is unknown. The browser and Windows versions are the safest choices because the creator marks the macOS and Linux downloads as untested.
