Eye Robot - The Quest

Swap stronger limbs for sharper sight in a submerged science maze.

Eye Robot - The Quest is a free French Unity game that turns retinal processing into an underwater Metroidvania. Instead of finding a bigger weapon or a higher jump, its little bionic eye equips rods, cones, and neural networks so the same rooms reveal different routes, warnings, and puzzle clues.

What is Eye Robot - The Quest?

The Nautileye is a wreck full of hazards, locked understanding, and one extremely upgradeable eyeball. At assembly stations, you trade among a limited set of visual abilities, then double back through familiar rooms to notice what the previous configuration hid. The mechanic is tied to real retinal science: different receptors and neural-processing networks filter useful information before it reaches the brain. That makes backtracking feel less like key hunting and more like changing the question you are able to ask of the room.

What you can do there

  • Equip different visual-processing modules
  • Revisit rooms with altered perception
  • Navigate hazards and solve perception puzzles

Why we picked it

Its science is not wallpaper pasted onto a maze. Perception is the progression system, so learning why a visual module matters directly improves play. The result is a neat educational trick with bubbles, seawater, and a robot eye doing the fieldwork.

How to get the most from it

Use the mouse for menus, the arrow keys to move, X to interact, and I for the information menu. At an assembly station, press X or Ctrl, remove an equipped ability when necessary, and choose the receptor or neural-network module that matches the obstacle. Sound and fullscreen are recommended.

Good to know

The project is in French, free in the browser, and also offers a Windows download. The page warns that returning to the title menu may fail to clear the current game state, so close the game before a fresh run. The live build, ending revisions, mobile support, accessibility, and performance were not tested here. Its current framing policy makes this a direct-open profile.
