Desespejos flips spot-the-difference puzzles around. Instead of comparing near twins for tiny mistakes, you study two entirely different illustrations and hunt for roughly ten shared details, all inside a supernatural story about mirrors that have begun reflecting fears, dreams, and uncomfortable memories.
What is Desespejos?
The reversal sounds simple, but it changes the rhythm of looking. A normal difference puzzle rewards suspicion toward every mismatch; Desespejos asks you to ignore the obvious gulf between its paired scenes and notice the visual echoes hiding across it. Mouse or touch input keeps the focus on comparison, while animation, music, voice work, and a mirror-repair premise give the puzzle a narrative frame. The available build is explicitly a demo containing a tutorial and first level, so it reads as a polished proof of a very tidy idea rather than a complete campaign.
What you can do there
- Compare two different illustrations and select the details they share
- Follow a supernatural story about malfunctioning mirrors
Why we picked it
A one-sentence rule change turns a shopworn puzzle format into a fresh act of attention. Looking for agreement between unrelated scenes feels playful and slightly uncanny, which fits the broken-mirror story far better than a conventional list of differences would.
How to get the most from it
Use the mouse or a touchscreen and compare the big shapes first, then scan for smaller repeated objects, colors, poses, or visual jokes. The listing estimates about half an hour, so give the tutorial room to teach its selection language before trying to race through the first level.
Good to know
This is still labeled an in-development demo, and the 2020 release note says it includes only a tutorial and first level. The page lists English and Spanish, voice acting, subtitles, browser play, Windows and Android downloads, and touch support; current keyboard access, device behavior, and completion plans remain unclear.
