Chrono Current

Watch today's date condense from a blue-orange current of simulated time.

Chrono Current turns the calendar into a compact WebGL meditation: metallic particles gather into today's date while blue-and-orange fluid keeps moving around it. A single alternate-mode toggle pushes the same scene into brighter, stranger territory.

What is Chrono Current?

The date usually sits at the edge of daily life, stamped on a tab or glanced at on a lock screen. Here it becomes the destination. Tonami Komuro frames the current day as particles pulled from a restless fluid field, pairing a fixed inscription with motion that refuses to hold still. Deep blue and vivid orange nod toward Monet's Impression, Sunrise without trying to turn the page into a virtual museum. The top-right psychedelic switch is the only described intervention, but it is enough to recast the date in gold and draw contour-like bands through the flow. This is less a tool than a small visual thought experiment: today, briefly crystallized before the current carries on.

What you can do there

  • Watch fluid particles form the current date
  • Toggle the alternate psychedelic display

Why we picked it

It gives an ordinary datum—the date—a surprisingly physical presence. The contrast between a crisp central reading and a fluid field makes the concept legible at a glance, while the alternate palette adds one well-judged wrinkle instead of burying the piece under controls.

How to get the most from it

Let the normal view run long enough to read the contrast between the formed date and the moving field, then use the upper-right checkbox to compare the psychedelic variation. Treat it as a short visual pause, not a puzzle to solve.

Good to know

The piece relies on WebGL and continuous motion. Its live canvas was not executed during this review, so audio, control responsiveness, mobile support, reduced-motion behavior, performance, privacy, ads, and popups remain unverified. No screenshot was captured.
