Beachpartyfun! sends you from itch.io into a handmade Neocities-style sprawl where links, pictures, counters, and nearly invisible hotspots hide treasures and a route to the beach. It is a fond salute to the messy, personal web, shaped by the creator's fatigue with social media. The sunny scavenger hunt also carries an unexpectedly melancholy ending.
What is Beachpartyfun!?
This little browser odyssey treats a personal website like an adventure map. A dog call center hides two numbered videos as black text on a black background. A horse page turns into a clicker, asking you to raise a counter and buy the exit. Elsewhere, a moving cup can wander out of view and block progress. Those rough edges are part accident and part old-web texture: Beachpartyfun! rewards the habit of sweeping the cursor across suspicious corners, selecting invisible text, zooming out, and assuming every goofy page has another door tucked behind it.
What you can do there
- Click through handmade web pages
- Find hidden videos and treasures
- Uncover the route to the beach
Why we picked it
The project remembers that browsing can feel like exploration rather than consumption. Its handmade pages, odd transitions, buried media, and stubborn jokes turn web navigation into the game itself. Player comments confirm both halves of the charm: people enjoyed the 2000s-internet atmosphere and randomness, yet repeatedly needed to invent their own troubleshooting rituals to keep moving.
How to get the most from it
Click generously and watch for the cursor to change. If a page seems empty, select the text or sweep its corners; the last two numbered videos hide in the upper-left of the dog call center. On the horse page, keep clicking the horse until the counter can buy the exit. If a required cup is missing, zoom out before assuming the trail is broken.
Good to know
The game is free and launches from itch.io into a Neocities-style site. Some progression relies on black-on-black text, moving links, or objects outside the normal viewport, so screen-reader and low-vision usability may be poor. Players have reported stuck links and hidden required items. The ending has been described as surprisingly sad. The page can frame only inside itch.io, not Site Stumble's player.
