Runway Palette turns four years of fashion-show photography into a field of color. Browse looks by palette, compare collections, or offer a photo and see which designers worked in similar shades; the pleasure is less trend report than visual treasure hunt.

What is Runway Palette?

The raw material is formidable: 140,000 runway-look photographs from almost 4,000 shows, spanning 2015–2019 and nearly 1,000 designers. Instead of asking you to march through brands or seasons, Runway Palette extracts each look's dominant colors and arranges the archive chromatically. The result makes a dense professional collection feel like a paint box with very expensive tailoring inside. A palette can lead to neighboring looks and collection comparisons, while search offers a more deliberate route through the material. The photo-matching option adds the best parlor trick: give it an image from your own surroundings and it looks for runway palettes that rhyme with it. That does not turn color similarity into fashion scholarship, but it is a lively way to notice how a shade travels across designers and seasons.

Why we picked it

Most fashion archives begin with names, dates, or houses. This one begins with the immediate visual fact of color, then lets the catalog reveal itself underneath. That inversion is both useful and playful: a sea of swatches becomes a route into thousands of individual looks without demanding expert knowledge first.

Start with a color that catches your eye, then open nearby looks and compare their collections before narrowing with search. For a stranger path, upload a strongly colored object or landscape photo and follow the returned palettes rather than trying to match an outfit literally.

The documented archive covers 2015–2019, so treat it as a historical color atlas rather than a live runway feed.
