Neurotic Neurons is a narrated interactive animation about learning, associations, and anxiety. Clicking through its simplified neural network turns an abstract rule into a chain of visible and audible consequences, then folds those mechanics into a personal story about fears that can be learned and, with effort, weakened.

What is Neurotic Neurons?

This is part animated explainer, part tiny game, and part candid story. Neurons fire, signals travel, links strengthen or loosen, and the narrator reacts while the visitor remains free to poke at the system. The same mechanics move from a basic network demonstration into examples of fear and safer re-exposure, ending with room to explore the model on its own. Nicky Case is unusually frank about the scientific shortcuts: thoughts do not live in single neurons, real firing is not deterministic, and the lesson is a map rather than the territory.

Why we picked it

The project does more than decorate an explanation with buttons. Its interactions carry the argument: a visitor can trigger an association, see its consequences, and then work the same mechanism in reverse.
