What is Musical Canvas?
This is less a drawing program with background music than a compact translation game. You make the image, choose any visual seasoning, and hand the result to two generative systems: one interprets the artwork and another supplies its soundtrack. That split makes the reveal interesting even when the tune is not a keeper, because you get to compare your intention with the machine's reading of the same marks. It is a neat way to make multimodal AI tangible without beginning from a text box.

Why we picked it
A blank canvas is a friendlier prompt than a blinking cursor, and the jump from shapes and colors to music is just strange enough to reward casual experimentation. The filters add a useful second lever: instead of only changing how a drawing looks, they can tilt the soundtrack toward effects such as 8-bit texture or vinyl character.
How to get the most from it
Draw something recognizable, then make a second version that is mostly color, motion, or nonsense and compare the results. Try a filter before generating music to hear how the same sketch is reframed. Headphones help; the soundtrack is the point, not optional decoration.
Good to know
The current production models and output controls were not verified: Google's launch post named MusicLM, while the experiment now names Lyria. Generated music can be uneven, and one independent walkthrough reported cramped controls at normal browser zoom. Treat it as a playful sketchbook experiment, not a precision composition studio.
