Don't Leave Me Hanging turns a post-isolation party into a tiny social-skills gauntlet. Move a hand, choose the right greeting, and land the grip without becoming the room's memorable cautionary tale.

What is Don't Leave Me Hanging?

The whole game is built around the split second when two people realize they have chosen different greetings. Mouse movement steers the hand while Space cycles or accepts a handshake, and each challenger asks for the right combination of grip, position, and timing. That narrow premise gives the page its charm: it treats a familiar social stumble like a precision arcade event. The result began as a GMTK Game Jam 2021 prototype and earned a notably strong originality placement in a field of thousands.

What you can do there

  • Move a hand with the mouse
  • Choose and accept handshake styles with Space
  • Match grip, position, and timing

Why we picked it

Few games turn the mechanics of a handshake into the entire punch line. The controls, party setup, and risk of escalating awkwardness all point at the same joke, making this a focused oddity instead of a loose collection of mini-games.

How to get the most from it

Start in Chrome or Edge, place the cursor toward the right side before a round, then use the mouse for hand position and Space to cycle or confirm the greeting. Treat the first few encounters as practice for the timing.

Good to know

The creators warn that the Unity WebGL build may misbehave in Firefox and Brave. Jam feedback also documents a cursor-position bug; moving the pointer to the right before the handshake can help. The current runtime, sound, mobile behavior, and accessibility support were not verified.
