Blind-Sight

Cross a 3D puzzle world where edges and colors vanish, leaving depth and sound to do the talking.

Blind-Sight is a brief first-person perception experiment that strips away familiar visual landmarks. You navigate with approximate depth, keyboard movement, mouse-look, jumping, and strongly recommended audio.

What is Blind-Sight?

Instead of hiding a route in darkness, Blind-Sight removes the usual language of visible space. The project says you cannot perceive colors or edges; approximate depth is the remaining visual clue. That turns ordinary first-person movement into a question of how much geometry can be reconstructed from distance and sound. The controls stay conventional—WASD, mouse-look, Space to jump, and M for the menu—so the disorientation comes from the world rather than a novel input scheme. It is presented as a few-minute class project, with both an embedded Unity build and a downloadable Windows version.

What you can do there

  • Move through a 3D space using approximate depth cues
  • Look around to infer nearby geometry
  • Jump through the route

Why we picked it

The sharp constraint does more than apply a monochrome filter. By making distance the headline signal, the project asks players to notice a part of 3D navigation that most games quietly bundle with outlines, surfaces, and color. It is a compact experiment with a clear sensory thesis.

How to get the most from it

Wear headphones or keep speakers on, since the creator strongly recommends audio. Move with WASD, look with the mouse, jump with Space, and use M for the menu. Slow camera movements may make the depth field easier to parse than sweeping the view quickly.

Good to know

The creator labels the project color-blind friendly, high-contrast, and textless, but those tags are not a full accessibility audit. The documented scheme requires keyboard and mouse, and first-person movement may be uncomfortable for motion-sensitive visitors. Version 1.1.1 of the 21 MB Windows build is dated March 18, 2021; current browser parity and mobile support are undocumented.
